That Ol' Wishcraft has Me in its Spell

Reading through the wonderful, funny, silly, beautiful, unbelievable responses to our romance survey, I notice one word pops up quite often: surprise. Seems people want to be surprised by romance.

Of course, I understand that. Who doesn't want to know that their lover took the time and effort to plot a perfect surprise. I would. I love surprises. The dilemma is, at least for me, how do you know what's a good surprise if you and your honey don't talk about it first? That ruins the surprise, the spontaneity is gone, which is why people don't talk about it. You see the problem.

I'm guilty of wishing for something than actually ask for it. (You probably are too) Maybe talking about romance would be easier if it were part of the first date patter- "Uh, I like sunsets, martinis and my romance in the form of weekly flower deliveries." Or we couuld bargain for it- "I promise to love, honor and let you watch sports whenever you want". Silly, but it might work. My grandmother frequently said, "If you don't ask, you don't get".

If you want more romance, ask for it. And, if it's something specific and unique, make sure you say exactly what it is! Alrighty, climbing down from my soapbox now. Have a warm weekend. PS Check the website next week for our top 10 list! Dina
So everyday we are learning so many new things. Not just about romance, but about publishing, website design, marketing and even blogging.

We are definitely very encouraged about all the positive feedback that we are receiving. All this good energy is helping to fuel some momentum here. Dina and I don't necessarily agree about some of the strategies to use for marketing, promotion... but we do agree that this is a great project!

Thank you all for the support. Keep it coming!

OK, we've had the website up and running for more than a week now. Still tweaking many things but it is mostly ready. Now we just need to add some more content.

Today we added a mailing list so be sure to sign up on our homepage. We will periodically send out announcements as to what is going on. More on this later.

When It Rains It Pours...

What a day! First, trouble with getting on Blogger to make this post. I admit I'm a techno-wimp at times. Logins drives me batty; I like to push a button and be done. Who really remembers all their passwords, hmmm? Long story short, it's fixed and I'm back to blog.

Then, our cat, Marge, became a proud mama. We took Marge in as a stray around Christmas. She was little and cute, boy, could that girl eat! She wolfed down plenty of kitty food, bowl after bowl. Then, she got a belly, one that got bigger and bigger. I wondered to Peter, "Do ya think she's pregnant?"as we watched her strut down the hall with a huge, swaying belly.

Talk about understatement. Today, she's a mom. We can't count the litter yet, but we think there were four and that we lost one. That feels bad. Caring for Marge together, and now her kittens, reminds me how loving and considerate Peter is.

Yep, what a day: new kittens and only 193 more responses to make 500. You did take the survey, right?

Life is good. Ciao. Dina

Posting Happens

Hey, welcome! This is my first post to our blog, Romantically-Challenged. Truly, I'm having such a ball writing and researching the book that I feel guilty NOT sharing the journey.

Funny, touching, rueful, classic are some of the words I'd use to describe the survey responses. I love reading them. What's my favorite original gift to date? Definitely, the bouquet of lobsters one guy gave his girlfriend. Nothing says loving like a lobster bib! I'll keep you posted on the good, misguided and unbelievable...

Stop by the What's Romantic.com and take the survey so you can join the fun.

OK it's back to work for me. Happy Nor'easter! Dina

Here it is our first post! While this is mostly a test to make sure that our blog is posting to our site, it is also an exciting moment as this is the first of many, many posts that you will see here. What do you think?
